Why do you enjoy being an instructor at Eleven Fifty?
I have always followed the mantra “The best way to learn is to teach”, and I believe that the position of learning assistant allows for the expansion of depth and understanding whilst simultaneously helping others starting on their journey.
Tell us about your background in Tech.
I am most certainly a newcomer to the tech scene. I had maybe learned a tiny bit of css back when MySpace was a thing but I don’t really think that counts. However with an abundance of free time suddenly on my hands I took an open courseware class in C and fell in love. after completing that course I dove into Eleven Fifty’s Software Development program. After which I stepped into the Role of Learning assistant to further continue developing and expanding my skillset.
When did you know you were interested in Tech?
So early on in quarantine I decided to take some open courseware classes and ended up doing one in C. Now, I have always enjoyed mathematics and logic. So when I made the discovery that a large majority of coding can roughly be thought of as logic puzzles I was hooked.
A fun fact about Simon!
Prior to making my transition into tech I was a professional ballet dancer.
