Biography

Why do you enjoy being an instructor at Eleven Fifty?
What I enjoy most about being an instructor at EFA is watching the students connecting the dot from concept to application. I also like the fact that I can bring in real problems that I have seen in my day job as a developer to give the students a perspective on what their future career may look like…

Tell us about your background in Tech.
I’m currently a software developer at Defenders ADT. I have been with them for over 3 years. I was also in the military (Army) for 12 years as an Apache Helicopter pilot. In high school, I took programming classes. Later in life, while in the military I went down the self-taught route building and creating programs that are still used today. Wanting to get formally trained in a more common language I found EFA where I took the JavaScript course.

When did you know you were interested in Tech?
I always loved technology. My father was a Software Developer so technology was always around me. I think I owned every system that Nintendo made growing up.

A fun fact about Amanda!
Although I was a helicopter pilot – I am really afraid of heights (I make my wife put up holiday lights on the house).
