Why do you enjoy being an instructor at Eleven Fifty?
My favorite part of being an instructor here is watching the process of students coming in knowing next to nothing about code and seeing the massive growth. It’s extremely stressful, but definitely worth it for the resolution. It also allows for us as staff to learn a lot, because students are very good at finding unique ways to break things.
Tell us about your background in Tech.
While I took some computer science classes during high school and college and worked through a lot of self guided learning in my own time over the years, most of my “official” technical education came from my time as a student at EFA back in 2018. Since then I’ve continued my education through developing both personal and professional projects.
When did you know you were interested in Tech?
Being fortunate enough to have grown up with some level of technology my entire life, I’ve always been extremely fascinated when it comes to tech. With the guidance of a few friends, I built my first computer while I was in high school. Having then also played my fair share of video games growing up, I really found my passion once I started writing some basic scripts for the games I was playing. From there it went to hacking together small projects in an attempt to learn more.
A fun fact about Joshua!
From a very young age I’ve found myself being creative, be it drawing, writing, building intricate LEGO sets, etc. This creativity pairs well with my desire to problem solve and my passion for programming on the side.
