Ingeborg Slegers

Web Development Instructor

Biography

Why do you enjoy being an instructor at Eleven Fifty?
I love witnessing the “aha!” moments students experience as the puzzle pieces start falling into place. I love learning from students as they bring me their unsolvable conundrums, in part teaching me as they discover new ways to break their projects. I enjoy brainstorming with my coworkers and strive to devise and implement new methods and teaching/learning opportunities for students to better understand the material we cover in such a short amount of time. I love my job as an instructor because I love watching the students grow to become so much more than they ever thought they could be.

Tell us about your background in Tech.
I attended EFA as a student with no coding background in the August 2018 JavaScript cohort. I was hired on as a learning assistant in the start of January 2019 and have been a part of the Web Development team ever since.

When did you know you were interested in Tech?
I wasn’t ever hooked by the tech itself rather more the endless possibilities tech can provide. I am drawn to the logic and creativity tech offers in the creation of web applications and mobile apps and their impact on society.

A fun fact about Ingeborg!
I was born and raised in the Flemish Region of Belgium. My mother is American (hence the distinct Hoosier accent) and my father is Belgian (hence the multiple languages on my resume). I grew up as a dual-citizen, spending my summers in the Indianapolis area, and the rest of the year in Belgium as any “regular” child.
